Steve Haines - Greens candidate for Noosa

History

I am 52 years old and live at Castaways Beach with my wife Merryn and our three young children. I am the Team Leader for a public mental health service. Our children attend the Sunshine Beach State School where I have been involved with the Parents and Citizens Association for eight years, the last three as Secretary. Having children at school means that you are actively linked with many other families who share similar issues and challenges. The Green’s values of peace and non-violence, grassroots democracy, social and economic justice, and environmental sustainability have long guided my own personal development. These values inform the six key local priorities for my campaign to represent the people of Noosa in the Queensland parliament.

Objectives

1. Restoring Noosa I am passionately committed to and will actively support proposals for the return of our Noosa Shire. I also acknowledge that Eumundi, Doonan and Verrierdale have long held a community of interest with the Noosa Shire along with Peregian Springs. 2. Community management of Noosa Hospital I am committed to ensuring that the Noosa Hospital develops in line with the needs of our community through a Community Board of Management. 3. Stopping the Traveston Crossing Dam 4. Stopping Powerlink's massive powerline proposal 5. Saving the Noosa River 6. Saving the Noosa Biosphere
