Candidate Profile Greg Singh

My History

I have been a Councillor for Division 10 (Golden Beach, Pelican Waters)in Caloundra City Council for 4 years.

I was born in Brisbane in 1961 and moved to Golden Beach with my wife Rae a number of years ago. We have three children Tabatha, Samuel and William.

I have worked as a fitter & turner, cab driver, computer technician and company administrator. I have been a manager of a small manufacturing company and quality manager of a medium sized computer company, as well as owning my own computer consulting business.

I have qualifications in Trade Fitting & Turning and an Associate Diploma in Business - Computing (part). My wide variety of skills and practical knowledge have stood me in good stead in local council.

This along with other community interests will continue to be my full-time occupation. I am committed not just to my division but to needs of the city as a whole.

The main points of concern for me are community involvement and consultation. These will become even more crucial in the coming term.

Being a family man I would like to see the area’s amenities preserved for the future enjoyment of our children and others who would like to live in this location.

My Objectives

The rules have now changed, we are no longer just Caloundra City Council we are now the Sunshine Coast Regional Council.

We need elected representatives who have the experience to walk into the position.

We need practical people who can talk with staff and have an understanding of the practical workings of a project.

And we need strong local representation for the future.

I have these skills. I have achieved many of my goals during this time in local government including reinstating pedestrian crossings, Golden Beach street scape and foreshore masterplan, road and drainage projects and much more.

With your help I would like to see that good work continue.

My Performance As a Councillor. I am required to attend a council meeting each fortnight. For the last four years I have been representing your interests and attended 100% of those meetings as well as 95% of over 300 discussion forums on numerous topics.

I have been appointed to many other groups some of which are listed below and where possible was in attendance at the meetings of over 25 community groups including

  • Project Groups Pumicestone Passage Taskforce (Chair)
  • Caloundra CBD Redevelopment Advisory Group
  • Golden Beach CBA Redevelopment Taskforce (Chair)
  • Kings Beach Redevelopment Taskforce
  • Tripcony / Hibiscus Taskforce
  • Bulcock Beach Redevelopment Taskforce
  • Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Group

Other Groups

  • Sunshine Coast ICT Steering Committee (Deputy Chair)
  • Social Advisory Committee
  • Pumicestone Region Catchment Care Coordination Association

As you can see in the past 4 years I have given Caloundra residents my best. My objective for the coming term is to continue to give residents of the Sunshine Coast my best.
