Candidate Profile Tim Dwyer
My History
Born & bred in Caloundra, educated here at home and as a boarder at Marist College Ashgrove, I have a deep local knowledge and am proud of Caloundra and it's people.
I am 44 yrs of age and live at Moffat Beach with my wife Kelli, who is also a local Caloundra girl. We are expecting our first child any tick of the clock.
The Dwyer family values community service. My grandmother worked tirelessly for Caloundra and her Church and my father has followed in her footsteps, having served nine years on Caloundra City Council, six as Mayor.
My parents brought up their nine children imbued with the same ideals of community service, and I would feel deeply honoured if I were elected to the new Sunshine Coast Regional Council.
For the past 8 yrs I've been the Division 9 Councillor for Caloundra City and in this time I've gained a valuable understanding of local government . As we must now amalgamate with our northern neighbours, Maroochy & Noosa, I believe this underst&ing will be invaluable in ensuring the needs of Caloundra are heard & met.
In these times of change it is more important than ever to have a councillor with experience, knowledge and the strength of character - trust to represent you. I have these attributes & will use them to preserve what we love about Caloundra.
I've NO HIDDEN OR PARTICULAR AGENDA, NO “SILENT” DEVELOPER SUPPORT, JUST AN INDEPENDENT VOICE THAT WILL ASSESS ALL ISSUES ON THEIR MERITS AND OFFER RESIDENTS FAIR, HONEST & CONSISTENT REPRESENTATION.
I've been part of a productive council team that has set in place structures that protect our natural beauty & provide for our quality of life. I bring to the new Sunshine Coast Regional Council, as part of the Aldous led Council 2000-2008 the following initiatives. I remain committed to these initiatives:
√ Gazetted a City Plan that opposes High Rise and protects neighbourhood amenity in low-density residential areas, and supports commercial outcomes in Caloundra’s CBD.
√ Produced a Growth Management Strategy that sets standards of environmental protection, sustainable growth & water conservation never considered before.
√ Introduced a Rating System that is the most equitable ever produced and one that includes Pensioner Rate Relief via a discount.
As a current Councillor for Caloundra City, the following projects provide a snapshot of my involvement & achievements:
