Candidate Profile Winston Johnston
My History
I have an outstanding track record in local government, in business and in his personal life.
I have an extensive support network of locals in every corner of the Division. I was born in the Division and has been married to Helen (a former Head of Home Economics at Burnside High School for 17 years) for 34 years. I live east of Maleny, and have also lived in Woombye and Landsborough.
Over a period of 15 years I built one of the 3 largest , most successful privately owned Insurance Brokerages in Queensland, winning awards along the way.
Building a large business requires the same skills as building a large Council. I believe no other candidate has those same business building skills. I believe that only a strong negotiator with excellent people skills and the ability to build teamwork will be able to get recognition for the needs of the hinterland in the new Council.
I have a 9 year track record of providing major infrastructure as a Councillor from 1982 to 1991, as a Caloundra City Councillor. (see details at www.winstonjohnston.com.au )
