Candidate Profile Christian Dickson

My History

I have lived on the Sunshine Coast for the last fifteen years in localities such as Montville, Buderim and currently Sippy Downs.

I have attended local schools in all of these areas and have had the opportunity to experience the Sunshine Coast and what it has to offer.

After completing my secondary education at Nambour Christian College I was successful in securing a position with Maroochy Shire Council in their records management section. It was during my time as a council employee I gained valuable experience in regards to how council operated the wants, needs and concerns of the local rate payer and it was from this that I decided I would one day put my hand up and run for council.

Although this was one of my main motivations to run for council, it also helped that my father Steve Dickson happened to be the local councillor in the area I wished to represent. Some say that things in life tend to happen for a reason, and as opportunities suddenly arise Steve decided he would take the next step and run for State Government. This was a perfect opportunity for me to get out there and finally give my dream at politics a real chance.

Although electioneering was a difficult task at the age of nineteen I was successfully elected in 2006 and have enjoyed my last sixteen months as the division's representative.

My Objectives

  • Chancellor Park Lakes Dixon/Claymore Road Interchange
  • Swimming Pool located at the USC
  • Community Bus Service
  • 2 Storey car park behind the old post office in Buderim
  • Fight to keep rates low
  • Sippy Downs Town Centre
