Three People I'd like to have to Dinner - and Why

Virginia (my wife) who is my best friend would get the number one invite, but I'm presuming husbands, wives, partners would be invited along with the 3 guests, so my 3 guests would be:

  1. Caroline Hutchinson (with hubby John), who are my neighbours and good friends, but are such busy people that sitting down to dinner with them for a few hours would be a real luxury!
  2. Nelson Mandela, who is a bit of a hero to Virginia as she was born in Kenya (East Africa) and watched events in South Africa closely.
  3. Robin Williams, who is a brilliant comedian and would certainly keep the dinner conversation lively, to say the least!

Candidate Profile Jeff Watson

My History

I served over 8 years as an Australian Federal Police Officer, gaining significant experience in investigative procedures, before falling in love with the Sunshine Coast lifestyle and moving my family here in 1985, just over 23 years ago.

I worked for Maroochy Shire Council for 18 years, mostly in the Environmental Management & Conservation Branch, gaining practical experience in ecology, water catchment, air quality, greenhouse gas emissions, and town planning issues.

I resigned from Council in mid-2004 and became a taxi driver, eventually buying my own taxi which I run as a business, providing gainful employment to others.

My Objectives

I live at Twin Waters and have previously lived at Maroochydore and Marcoola, so I know the area thoroughly as a long-term resident and as the ONLY candidate who actually resides in Division 8, residents have that extra comfort in knowing that, unlike my opponents, I have to live with the decisions I make!

As the only candidate completely independent and uninfluenced by party politics, you can be sure I will work for you and you alone. For far too long now, Councillors seem to have been working for developers rather than the residents they were elected to serve. I will work for you, not developers - you come first!

My lengthy background in Environment Management has convinced me that if we look after our natural environment, we protect our unique lifestyle, which is the very reason we love living here in the first place.

I strongly believe in open and honest local government and will work closely with the elected Mayor and Councillors to represent all residents of Division 8 with passion and integrity.

It's been far too long since the people had the power to be heard and a vote for Jeff Watson is a vote to return the "power to the people!"
